St. Charles

Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Hart Black were held last Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church conducted by. Rev. D. F. Barker.

Mrs. Black was 48 years and was united in marriage to R. F. Black on January 13, 1915. To this union two children were born, Mildred and Kenneth, both at home.

Besides her husband and children she leaves four brothers and three sisters, James Hart of North Dakota, Ann Hart of Indianola, Everett, of Grimes, Emmett, of near Winterset, Oscar, of Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. Bertha Siedel and Mrs. Ethel Mollike of St. Charles.

Burial was in the St. Charles cemetery.

County Briefs – St. Charles

Mrs. R. F. Black, who has been confined to her bed since last October, died at her home south of St. Charles early Sunday morning.

Her maiden name was Miss Edna May Hart, daughter of John M. and Sarah J. Hart, and was born in Adair county March 4, 1893. She came with her parents to Madison county in 1900 and later lived in Warren county. Her father died in 1906 and her mother in 1909.

She was married to R. Frank Black January 13, 1915 in St. Charles while she was living with Prof. and Mrs. J. H. Denius, then teachers in the St. Charles school. Mr. and Mrs. Black went to housekeeping and farming on the farm south of St. Charles. Two children were Mildred and Kenneth, who are at home. Mrs. Black was a member of the Methodist church.

Besides her husband and two children, she leaves seven brothers and sisters, James of Rutland, North Dakota; Anna Hart of Indianola; Mrs. Bertha Siedel and Mrs. Ethel Meilike but St. Charles; Everett Hart of Granger; Emmett Hart of Winterset, and Oscar Hart of Detroit, Michigan. One brother, Peter, died at Cheyenne, Wyoming, in 1921.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. D. F. Barker. Interment was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
