Raymond "Dean" Travis, 79 passed from this life on Friday, March 19, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be 11am Monday, March 22, 2010 at McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Dean was born on October 6, 1930 in St. Charles, Iowa the son of Raymond A. and Violet Pauline (Miller) Travis. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1948 and Married Shirley Stevenson on May 4, 1952 in Des Moines. He served with the US Marine Corp in Korea. He retired after 30 years with the Des Moines Post Office where he was an examiner and engineer.

Dean was baptized on May 1, 1965 and was a very active member of the Des Moines Grace Brethren Church.

He is survived by his wife Shirley of Des Moines, one son Dan (Joanne) Travis of Hershey, PA. two daughters, Shari-Lynn Travis of Des Moines and Sandra (Dan) Sutherlin of Centerburg, OH, one granddaughter, Amanda (Josh) Dunn of Columbus, OH, one grandson, Brandon Travis of Atlanta, GA, one great granddaughter, Addison Grace Dunn, one sister Donna Brown of Des Moines and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Betty Cunningham.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at McLaren's Chapel.
