MARGARET E. PETERSON, Des Moines

Margaret E. Peterson, 89, passed away at Taylor House Hospice March 10, 2010.

Margaret was born February 24, 1921 in Madison County to Ray and Lillie Belle Tyer. She was an elementary school teacher in the Des Moines Public Schools and St. Augustin Catholic School. Margaret enjoyed music, bridge and many social activities with friends.

Margaret is survived by her children, Greg (Patty) Peterson and Jane (Bob) Keller; daughter-in-law, Sandra Peterson; brother, Calvin (Audrey) Tyer; grandchildren, Jessica (Donnie) Widlund, John Jr. and Shane Peterson and Larissa (Perry) Harrell; great-children, Madison Rasmussen and Peighton Harrell. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene; son, John; sisters, Ruth Tyer and Esther Pilmer; and brothers, Roscoe, Earl and Gilbert Tyer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Grand View Lutheran Church, 2930 E. 13th followed by burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grand View Lutheran Church.

Coordinator's note: The deceased was first married to Raymond D. Cameron who died very young in a motor vehicle accident. She then married Raymond's brother, Delbert E. Cameron who died at a very young age of a heart attack. Both marriages were childless.
