JAMES D. ZENOR

James David "Jim" Zenor, 81, passed from this life on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 11, at Iles Funeral Homes, Sundberg - Kirkpatrick Chapel in Madrid, where the family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until the service time on Thursday. Burial with military honors will follow at Fairview Cemetery, north of Madrid.

Jim was born on September 9, 1928 in Madrid, Iowa to Richard B. and Jessie Lee (Kelley) Zenor. He was a graduate of Luther High School, in Luther, IA. Jim was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the Army Air Force, until he was honorably discharged. He marred Donna L. Sarver and they later divorced. In July of 1979, Jim then married Sheryl Eileen Knouse in Corydon, IA. He owned and operated Zenor Logging for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Zenor of Winterset; three sons, David Lee Zenor of Des Moines, and Richard E. Zenor and Stephen R. Cumming both of Madrid; one daughter, Jere L. Scar of Woodward; their mother, Donna Zenor of Perry; two stepsons, Tony Frey of Des Moines and Brad Frey of Watertown, NY; one brother, Douglas R. Zenor of Ft. Knox, KY; three grandchildren; twelve step grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several step great- grandchildren; and a host of many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Robert and Thomas Zenor.
