DALE SCHIRM, Utah

Dale R. Schirm, 90, of Murray, Utah, died Feb. 2, 2010.

Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 5, at Murray City Cemetery.

Dale Schirm was born April 19, 1919, in Winterset to Charles and Hazel (Rivenburg) Schirm. He grew up in Winterset, and on June 1, 1940, married his childhood sweetheart, Doris Grout, and settled in Denver, Colo. During World War II, Dale served in the United States Marine Corps. Upon his return, he worked for Mountain Bell (Qwest) for over 30 years. In 1962, Dale and his family moved to Murray, Utah. While residing in Utah, Dale was a square dance caller.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Marcia Ottley; two grandsons; one great-grandson; and an infant sister.

He is survived by one daughter, Melodee Cowan of Murray, Utah; two sisters, Rosemary Tongish and Betty Godbey, both of Denver, Colo.; and six grandsons and nine great-grandchildren.
