Francis M. McKinney, 73, of St. Charles died March 13, 2010, at his home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 16, at Calvary Baptist Church in St. Charles. Burial was at St. Charles Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Francis’ name may be directed to Calvary Baptist Church, 109 N. Hartman, St. Charles, IA 50240. Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset.
Francis McKinney was born Feb. 26, 1937, in St. Charles to Dale and Mary (Creason) McKinney. He attended school in St. Charles, graduating from St. Charles High School in 1955. His marriage to Jacquelyn Shreves took place Sept. 21, 1957. Francis was employed at Wonder Bread for two years and five months and Iowa Power and Light (MidAmerican Energy) for 40 years, two months and 10 days. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church and an active participant of the WHO Tractor Ride.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sherrie Lynn, and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie, of St. Charles; three sons, Mark McKinney and Tim McKinney, both of St. Charles, and Matt McKinney of Pleasant Hill; three daughters, Janna Helton of St. Charles, Lynnette Shafer of Winterset, and Elizabeth Worsham of Saylorville; a brother, Arthur McKinney of St. Charles; two sisters, Beverly Tucker of Bondurant and Evelyn Young of Council Bluffs; and 22 grandchildren.

Monday, March 15, 2010Francis M. McKinney met his Savior face to face on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at his home. He was 73 years old.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 15, 2010 at the Calvary Baptist Church, St. Charles, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the Calvary Baptist Church, St. Charles. Burial will be in the St. Charles Cemetery. Memorials in Francis' name may be directed to Calvary Baptist Church, 109 North Hartman, St. Charles, Iowa 50240.
Francis was born February 26, 1937, to Dale and Mary (Creason) McKinney in St. Charles, where he lived his entire life. On September 21, 1957, he married Jacquelyn Shreves and together they raised six children.
Francis attended all 13 years of his schooling in St. Charles and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1955. He was employed at Wonder Bread for two years and five months and faithfully worked at Iowa Power and Light (MidAmerican Energy) for 40 years, two months and ten days.
Francis enjoyed many passions and activities including his church of which he was a charter member, antique tractors, the WHO Tractor Ride, cars and playing fast and slow pitch softball. He was also proud of his children and accomplishments of his grandchildren.
Francis is survived by his wife Jackie of 52 years and her mother Edna Shreves Keeton of St. Charles; his children, son, Mark McKinney and wife, Laurie of St. Charles; daughter, Janna Helton and husband, Doug of St. Charles; son, Tim McKinney and wife, Kelly of St. Charles; daughter, Lynnette Shafer and husband, Pete of Winterset; son, Matt McKinney and wife, Stacie of Pleasant Hill, and daughter, Elizabeth Worsham and husband, Nathan of Saylorville and 22 grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved brother, Arthur McKinney and wife, Pat of St. Charles; and his two sisters, Beverly Tucker and husband, Bernard of Bondurant and Evelyn Young and her husband, Leo of Council Bluffs.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Sherrie Lynn; his parents; and his fathers-in-law, Delmar Shreves and Finis Keeton.
