Obituary

Josiah McKibban was born in Clinton county, Ohio, March 27, 1846, and died at his home in Lorimor, Ia., Dec. 21, 1908, age 62 years, 8 months and 24 days. With his parents he moved to Illinois in 1854 and to Madison county in 1864, which was his home until the last few years which he has lived in Lorimor.

He was married to Loucindia Shearer in Winterset July 4, 1868. To this union were born five sons and two daughters, Frank, William, Joseph, Austin, Fred, Ina and Anna, all of whom were with him in his last sickness.

Besides his family he leaves two sisters and three brothers to mourn his loss. They are Mrs. Andrew Macumber, of Winterset; Mrs. Abner Black, LaJara, Colorado; L. C. McKibban, Macksburg; Columbus McKibban, Attica, Kansas; and James McKibban, Winterset.

“Uncle Si,” as we have learned to call him, was always found trying to encourage and assist his family and friends in leading a Christian and upright life.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Booth in the Christian church in Lorimor, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Clark cemetery in Monroe township.
