Local Tips

Earl Taylor, son of Mrs. Florence Taylor, living one block north of the square, died this morning after a long illness from tuberculosis. Earl was a young man of much promise and excellent character and for him to be cut down in his young manhood is especially sad. The grief-stricken mother has the sympathy of the community.

Obituary

Earl Taylor was born in Winterset Oct. 6, 1887. Fell asleep in the same room in which he was born, Dec. 31, 1909 (8), aged 21 years. Went with the old year to a brighter and better world. He attended the public school here during his boyhood and later took a business course in the college at Boulder, Colo. He had unusual artistic talent and he had planned to make practical use of this gift, in the study of architecture, but ill health deprived him of the pleasure of this study. After three years of employment in Mr. Fox’s grocery, he was compelled to go to a milder climate in hopes of securing health. In the fall of 1906 he went to California, but finding no immediate help there, went to Arizona and later to Colorado where he remained until the first of last May. Since that time his strength has been gradually diminishing and on last Thursday morning at two o’clock he passed quietly away.

He leaves his mother and grandmother to mourn his loss. He was a member of a Sunday school class in the Presbyterian church and was faithful in his attendance as long as his strength would permit. He was an earnest believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. Just last Sunday he talked in a beautiful way of the end of this life and of his faith in Christ.
