Mrs. Douglas Debord

Rosella Arnold was born in Huntington county, Indiana on April 18, 1862 and passed into eternity from her home in Patterson, March 16, 1917, at the age of 54 years, 11 months and 6 days.

She came to Iowa with her parents when a small child and has since made Iowa her home.

On April 17, 1880 her marriage with Douglas Debord was solemnized, he having proceeded her in death April 21,1900. To this union 7 children were born, 4 sons and 3 daughters: Bessie May and Albert dying in early childhood. Those living are: Harry, Claude and Douglas Debord, Mrs. C. C. Wilson and Mrs. Herbert Crowl, all of Patterson. She leaves to mourn her loss her children, three grandchildren; also three sisters and three brothers: Mrs. M.E. Ralston of New Virginia, Mrs. Nettie Ralston of Kansas City, Mo; Mrs. F. Bunting of Council Bluffs, Geo. Arnold of Patterson, J.M. of Minnesota, and J.J. of Des Moines; besides other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Debord was a member of the Patterson M.E. church, having united with this society many years ago, during Rev. W. W. Williams' ministry. Mrs. Debord was a kind, indulgent mother, a faithful friend and a good neighbor. Her funeral was conducted by Rev. Fred Wamer, a former pastor, assisted by Rev. Neilson, on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. The remains were laid to rest in the McGinnis cemetery.

Death of Mrs. Rosa Debord

Mrs. Rosa Arnold Debord died at her home in Patterson on Friday, March 16th, at the age of 54 years. A relapse following a severe attack of grip, bordering on pneumonia, caused her death.

When very small, her parents came to Iowa from Indiana, and her home has since been in and near Winterset. In 1880, she was married to Douglas Debord, who was at one time a Madison county official. His death occurred in 1900.

Mrs. Debord left four children: Mrs. C.C. Wilson, Mrs. Herbert Crowl, Harry, Claude and Douglas, all of Patterson. Three brothers and three sisters are left of the family also.

Rev. Fred Wamer former pastor of Patterson Methodist church assisted by Rev. Neilson conducted the funeral services Sunday morning. Burial followed in the McGinnis cemetery.

Patterson -

The community was shocked at the sudden death of Mrs. Rosa DeBord, who had been ill for quite some time. The funeral services were held Sunday at 10 o'clock and the body was laid to rest in the McGinnis cemetery.
