Mrs. Beeson Barker was born in 1800 and died in 1860 in the early winter. She took sick at the home of her son. Jerry, in Winterset. She wanted to come home so Marion Carey took a yoke of oxen hitched to a pin sled with a wagon box on it
and putting a feather bed in it, brought her home. She lived only a few days.

This broke up the active home of Rev. Barker.

She was buried in the Ashland / Groesbeck cemetery.
