Services March 7 For MADGE NICHOLS

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 7, for Madge Ona Nichols who died March 3, 1981 at Koekuk Area Hospital in Keokuk at the age of 83.

Rev.Bron Ayers officiated at the services, held at Collins Funeral Home. Burial was at the Peru Cemetery.

Mrs. Nichols was born June 3, 1897 at Peru, Iowa. She was the daughter of Robert Eyre Simmons and Lillie James. In 1916 she married Alvin Lester Nichols at Winterset, Iowa. Four children were born of the union.

A lifetime resident of Madison County, she was a homemaker and member of the Peru Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; her parents; a daughter, Cleta Fay Brittain, two brothers; two grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Nichols of Keokuk and Robert Nichols of Eagle Point, Oregon; one daughter, Velta Ryan of Vista, Calif.; one brother, Lawrence Simmons of Peru; one sister, Lillian Morman of Minong, Wisc.; 15 grandchilden and 19 great-grandchildren.
