Nelson S. Howell, a wealthy farmer of Lee township, died Monday at his home near Cumming. Mr. Howell, who was 57 years of age at the time of his death, had lived in this county for the past thirty years and was one of the most widely known citizens of central Iowa. His real estate holdings extended over nearly the entire state, most of them being farms and pasture land.
Funeral services will be held in Norwalk Friday. He was the father of Mrs. Senator Crossley, recently of this place.

Nelson S. Howell, of Lee township, died early Monday morning, after a brief illness from acute liver complications resulting in heart failure. Mr. Howell was one of the wealthiest farmers in Lee township and was an early settler in his community. He is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Mae Bird, of Patterson, and four children by a former marriage. They are Frank, Aaron and Squire Howell, of Lee township, and Mrs. James J. Crossley, of Long Beach, California.
The funeral will be held Friday, at 10:30, from his late home and interment at Norwalk.
