SANDRA K. WELCHER, WINTERSET

Sandra K. “Sandie” Welcher was born Sept. 13, 1954, in Chandler, Ariz. She worked as a secretary and receptionist for several years, but her real passion was writing. She had written many poems and was working on a novel. Sandie traveled a lot in her earlier years, following her father’s career in the Navy.

Sandie is survived by her parents, Don and Margaret (Osborn) Bittenger; two sisters, Cherita (Ed) Snyder of Winterset and Trish (J.R.) Crone of Stafford, Va.; several nieces and nephews, Karri (Jerry) Ammann and son, Dylan, Chad (Angie) Snyder and daughter, Cassidy, Monica (Juston) Smith and son, Cohen, Bryan (Betsy) Snyder, and Megan Crone; and friends from all over the United States.

She was preceded in death by her son, Justin Crawford.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, Feb. 16, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Pam Kerr officiating. Burial of the cremains took place at Winterset Cemetery.

Sandra Kay Welcher, 55, dies at her home on February 10, 2010.

Memorial services will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Burial of the cremains will be in April at the Winterset Cemetery next to her son "J".

Family will greet friends 1 hour before service time. Memorials will go to Oak Grove Community Church.
