THELMA ARMSTRONG, WINTERSET

Thelma Pauline Armstrong, 98, died Feb. 10, 2010, at Winterset Care Center North.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Kale Funeral Home in Truro, where the family will greet friends one hour prior to the services. Burial of the cremains will be at Peru Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a tribute to be decided later.

Thelma Armstrong was born Sept. 16, 1911, in Clarke County to Ernie Cloyd and Edith Gertrude (Frank) Youmans and was a graduate of Truro High School. Her marriage to Marvin Perry Armstrong took place April 6, 1936, in Bethany, Mo. They made their home in Truro until moving to St. Charles in 1998. Thelma worked as a secretary at Interstate 35 High School in Truro, retiring in 1976. She was a member of the Truro Congregational United Church of Christ and the Jolly Fu Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Colleen Hall.

She is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Brooks of St. Charles and Geraldine Johnson of Bentonville, Ark.; and one brother, Gene Youmans of St. Charles.
