Mrs. Julia E. Hickey, 84, widow of Philip H. Hickey, formerly of this city, died at the home of her son, John at St. Charles, Iowa, Wednesday afternoon according to word received here. Mrs. Hickey left Watertown 21 years ago to make her home with her son.
She was born on South Massey street, this city, to Nicholas and Mary Smith in 1847. She was married to Philip Hickey, a veteran of the Civil war. He was connected with the Air Brake companies here for the last 20 years of his life. He was foreman of the foundry for a number of years prior to his death, which occurred in 1899.
During her residence in Watertown, Mrs. Hickey was a communicate of St. Patrick's church. Her marriage took place in the edifice of that church.
Surviving, besides the son at whose home she died, are a granddaughter and great-granddaughter residing at St. Charles, Iowa; a brother, John A. Smith, this city; a sister, Mrs. Mary L. Delaney, this city. Several surviving nephews and nieces also reside here.
The funeral will be held at St. Charles, Iowa and it is believed that the burial will also be there.

Grandma Hickey, 84 years of age, passed away at her house northwest of town last Wednesday.
Rev. Nixon conducted the funeral at the home Friday morning at 10 o'clock. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
