Obituary

William B. Johnson was born in Ohio county, Indiana, March 13, 1837. In 1856 he came to Madison county, Iowa, where he resided until the time of his death. He died in Macksburg, his home for many years, on Feb. 23, 1908, aged 70 years, 11 months and 10 days.

In 1876 Mr. Johnson was united in marriage with Mary A. Stewart who survives him. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Huldah Whitworth, of Macksburg, and two brothers, one of whom lives in Washington and the other in Oklahoma.

The deceased was converted and united with the Macksburg M.E. church about ten years ago during the pastorate of Rev. David Martin. Mr. Johnson was a quiet, kind spirited man and a consistant Christian, so that his friends “sorrow not as those who have no hope.”

The funeral services were conducted by his former pastor, Rev. C. E. Trueblood, of Winterset, assisted by the pastor, Rev. J. N. Hosier, in the Macksburg M.E. church, Monday Feb. 24th. The interment was in the Macksburg cemetery.
