Obituary

Josephine Ward was born in Highland county, Ohio, April 13, 1852. At the age of five years with her parents moved to Leon, Ia.

Dec. 27, 1873 she was united in marriage to Phil. Tarbell. They immediately located on a farm in this neighborhood. She was known to all of us as a woman of kind and gentle ways. Respected as an unselfish neighbor, endeared by her cheerful disposition, ever true and loyal to her husband, fond and affectionate as a wife, their lives especially devoted to the happiness of each other. Youth and middle age passed unusually happy but with the beginning of old age disease came also, and in spite of all that fond hearts and loving care could do Josie was taken from us in the evening of the old year 1907, to meet the reward of a life devoted to her home, her family and her God.
