Friends and relatives here were profoundly shocked when on last Thursday morning word came that Loy Downs had died suddenly in a Des Moines hospital of a heart attack. He was 54 years old and the son of the late Mr. and Ms. James Downs, old pioneer residents of St. Charles. Loy was born and grew to manhood here, but had made his home in Des Moines for some time. He is survived by his wife and a son and daughter. Other members of his family are his twin brother, Roy of Ft. Madison, David of Ft Madison and another twin brother and sister, Bryan of Truro and Miss Ambrosia of St Charles, and a host of other relatives and friends.
