Maretta Lowden, 81 died Sunday

Mrs. Frank Lowden of Winterset died Sunday, Sept. 17, at Horton’s Nursing home here, at the age of 81 years. She had been a resident of Madison county for 45 years.

Mrs. Lowden was a native of Elk River Junction in Jackson county, where she was born July 13, 1891, a daughter of Charles E and Mary Johnson McFarlin. She was married at Dexter to Frank Lowden on Jan. 3, 1917.

She was a member of the Pitzer Presbyterian church.

Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Hugh Godfred of Clinton, Wisc., and Mrs. Albert Nalley of Savanna, Ill.; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd McFarlin of Winterset; and two sisters, Mrs. Alyce Butler of Colfax and Mrs. Vianna Stabler of Sinclair, Wyo.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Collins Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Newton Coughenour, pastor of the First United Methodist church here. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
