Page 2Harry Brown Died Friday
Harry W. Brown, a resident of Winterset for the last two years, died Friday, September 8, at a Des Moines Hospital. He was 72 years of age.
Mr. Brown was a retired barber. He worked in Des Moines from 1922 until 1964. In that latter year he moved to Forsyth, Missouri and then in 1970 to Winterset.
He was a native of Boone County, where he was born at Angus on November 17, 1899, a son of Joshua and Mary Morris Brown. He served in the U. S. Army during World War I.
He was married in Des Moines on January 15, 1922, to Evelyn Davis, who survives him. He also leaves three sons, Harry W. Brown, Jr., of Orange, California, Robert L. Brown of Des Moines and Richard L. Brown of Chicago. He also leaves 12 grandchildren; a brother, George Brown of Rippey; and a sister Mrs. Anna Feith of Rock Springs, Wyoming. One son, Max, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Newton Coughenour, pastor of the first United Methodist Church. Burial was made in Resthaven cemetery in West Des Moines.
