Janet Lorene Gomez Taylor, 57, of Earlham died Wednesday, Jan. 27, at the Kavanagh Hospice House in Des Moines.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Jan. 30, at All Saints Catholic Church in Stuart. Burial was in in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Janet Gomez was born June 8, 1952, in Redfield to Elias and Marjorie (Miller) Gomez. She graduated from Earlham Community School in 1970. She married Gregory Taylor on June 4, 1977 in Adel. The couple later renewed their vows at All Saints Catholic Church in Stuart. Janet was employed at Veenstra & Kimm Engineering as a secretary for 32 years before retiring. Janet was a lifelong member of the All Saints Catholic Church in Stuart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, John; a brother, James; and a sister, Mary Belding.
She is survived by her husband Gregory of Earlham; sons Michael of Earlham and Christopher of Waukee; five grandchildren, 16 brothers and sisters: David of Shell Rock, Thomas of Dexter, Robert of Ottumwa, Richard of Wellsville, Kan., Jean Moll of Des Moines, Catherine Callahan of Earlham, Larry of LaFeria, Texas, Timothy of Lorimor, Patrick of Earlham, Cindy Boucher of Des Moines, Margaret Tiernan of Stuart, Bill of Earlham, Dennis of Pauls Valley, Okla., Jack of Earlham; Joyce Rasmussen of Jefferson and Barb Boss of Stuart; and several nieces, nephews and other family members.
The Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa, the Earlham Library or All Saints Catholic Church in Stuart.
