Emma Reed Thacker

Emma Reed Thacker was born February 12, 1869 in Jackson, Iowa and departed this life in Des Moines, Iowa on Nov. 23, 1925 at the age of 46 years, 9 months and 11 days.

When four years of age she came to Madison County with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Jas. Reed and located in Jefferson township . Early in childhood she united with the M. E. church and was a faithful and ardent worker for her master in Asbury M. E. church in Des Moines, and a firm believer to the end.

On January 25, 1907 she was united in marriage to R. W. Thacker, of Des Moines, who with his two sons, Marion and Wesley survive her and to whom she has been a devoted wife and mother.

The funeral services were held at the home of F. M. Cox on West Jefferson on Wednesday at 10 a.m. conducted by Rev. D. J. Shelton. The burial was made at the Fairview Cemetery.

Mrs. Robert Thacker

The funeral for Mrs. Robert Thacker, of Des Moines, was held Wednesday morning from the Frank Cox home. Rev. D. J. Shenton, of the Methodist church, conducted the services.

Mrs. Thacker’s maiden name was Emma Reed and her old home was in the Fairview neighborhood.

Those who survive are her husband and two step-sons, Wesley and Marion Thacker, two sisters, Mrs. Will Hilderbrand and Mrs. Cox, two brothers, James W. and Guthrie Reed.

Interment was in the Fairview cemetery.
