Fred C. Fritsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Fritzen, was born at Kellogg, Iowa, April 14, 1882; died at his home in Earlham, Sept. 27, 1904, after a brief illness of six days.

He entered the Earlham public school in 1893 and graduated from the Commercial Department of Earlham Academy in 1903.

Early in life he took a great interest in music and has been an active member in music circles of Earlham ever since.

Shortly after graduating he passed the Rural Mail Carrier’s examination and has been in the service up to his death.

The funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon at two o’clock in the Friends church conducted by Rev. Whitehead. The I.O.O.F. lodge, of which he was an honored member, attended in a body. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. Interment was in Earlham cemetery.

Seldom are we called upon to chronicle the demise of a young man so universally respected as was the subject of this sketch. The major portion of his life was spent here among us and we knew him as he really was. He was of a quiet disposition, studious to a degree not often found in a young man, and best of all he was morally clean. By his untimely death two homes are saddened, as he was to have been married within a year to a daughter of one of our prominent families. His death is sincerely mourned by the entire community.
