September 1904Peter McQuie was born in Scotland, March 17, 1820, and died Sept. 10, 1904, aged 84 years, 5 months and 23 days.
At the age of 16 he joined the established church of Scotland. He was married to Isabelle McCullough some 50 years ago and for half a century they shared the faithful and loving companionship of each other. In 1857 they came to America, settling in Illinois, where they lived for several years. From there they came to Iowa, settled in Penn township, Madison county. They lived on the same farm forty years, when the master said it is enough, come up higher. Two sisters and one brother of the deceased, together with three sons, four daughters and twelve grandchildren are left. God’s grace is sufficient.
Funeral was held Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Garrett of Pitzer U.P. church after which the remains were laid to rest by the side of his wife in the Penn Center cemetery, there to await the great resurrection.
