Richard G. Tracy, 86, of Peru, Iowa, died Dec. 26, 2009, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset with Father Chris Hartshorn officiating. Visitation will be from 3–8 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Memorials will be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in Winterset Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
Dick was born April 10, 1923, in Bridgewater to Martin F. and Emma K. (Reis) Tracy. He lived in Madison County for about 70 years. He had a keen sense of humor and enjoyed any joke. He was always kind and generous. Dick enjoyed farming, especially spring fieldwork, and raised cattle for 56 years. He had said he thought he was good at knowing which jobs he should do himself and which he should ask someone else to do. Dick belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Dick is survived by his sisters, Elma E. Tracy of Winterset and I. Marcella Miller of Norwalk; and sister-in-law, Marguerite Tracy of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin F. and Emma K. (Reis) Tracy; brothers, Raymond E. Tracy, infant George M. Tracy, Martin F. Tracy Jr., and Thomas J. Tracy; and sisters, Margaretha C. Tracy, Irenee S. Tracy, and Marie A. Bindel.
