Many hearts are sad and full of sympathy for the bereaved parents of Ralph Howe, who passed from this life Sunday, June 12, 1904 in answer to his Master’s call. He was in his 21st year and the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Howe. About two years ago he was taken sick, after much suffering, which he bore with great patience, he was able to go around some but never retained his former health.
Ralph was a kind hearted young man, whose bright and sunny nature helped him to bear all pain and sorrow without complaint. His voice which brought so much comfort to those in his home is now stilled forever, but God in his wisdom doeth all things well and in this dark hour we still have his love and guidance to console our saddened lives.
His faithful parents remained with him during his illness and supplied every need as far as was in their power to do. We know it was a solemn sight to witness the old and young, who had known and loved him, coming to see the closing of that early grave and pay the last respect to the one who in life had been the friend and favorite of all. His last words to his parents and sisters and those that stood around his couch were, “Meet me in glory.”
Thus a noble young man has gone from us, the home is vacant of a loved one, but Heaven is richer.
His funeral was held at the Oak Run church of which he was a member and in which he often gave testimony of his love for Jesus. The services were conducted by Rev. W. W. Williams of East Peru.
