Sudden Death of H. H. Saxton

A most distressing accident occurred in Grand River township last Saturday which resulted in the death of one of Macksburg’s best citizens, H. H. Saxton. Mr. Saxton was engaged in boring a well on the farm of James Steele, three miles northwest of Macksburg, when by some accident to the machinery, his leg was badly lacerated and in which an artery was severed from which he bled to death in a few minutes. Dr. Schofield was telephoned for who immediately answered, but before he reached his patient life was extinct. Mr. Saxton was one of the most highly respected citizens of Macksburg. He was known by everyone and held in the greatest esteem by all. He was for a number of years postmaster of that town immediately preceeding the present postmaster. He leaves a wife and one married son, whose sorrow is shared by the entire community.
