Uncle Billy Scott, who resided southwest of Truro, and at one time a resident of this community and well and favorably known here, died at his home on last Wednesday morning from ptomaine poisoning. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, followed by the Masonic ceremony and he was laid to rest in the Hartman cemetery near his home.
He leaves a wife and several children, aside from a host of warm friends to mourn his loss.

William Scott was born April 23, 1825 in Adair county, Kentucky, died at his home near Truro, Iowa, Sept. 5, 1906, he was sick but a few hours. On May 13, 1851, he was married to Margaret D. Salmon, to this union were born eleven children, six boys and five girls, all survive him but one son J. W. Scott who died in childhood.
The children were all present, Clay Scott of Meridan, Idaho, T. E. Scott of St. Joe, Mo., Sampson Scott of Macksburg, Ia., P. W. and Porterfield Scott of near Truro, Ia., Mrs. Thos. Hiatt of Ackworth, Mrs. Harlan Ogborn of Hanley, Mrs. Alice White of Osceola, Mrs. Victoria Deardoff and Mrs. Stella Neidt of near Truro, Ia.
In 1863 Wm. Scott moved to Madison county, Ia., where he lived until death. Oct. 2, 1887, Margaret D. Scott, his wife, passed away, aged 56 years, 10 months and 2 days.
In 1893 Wm. Scott was married to Nannie Wren Scott of Edmonton, Ky., she was at his bedside when he died. Uncle Billy, as he was called by everyone, was loved by all who knew him. He leaves a host of friends and relatives to mourn his loss. The remains were laid to rest in the Hartman cemetery, near Truro, Ia.
