J. W. Wilson was born in Maryland October 26, 1826 and died April 1, 1906, aged 79 years, 5 months, and 5 days.
In 1850 he was united in marriage to Mary E. Mahannah in Ohio. To this union were born twelve children, two of which departed this life in childhood.
In 1850 he united with the Christian church and was baptized in that faith, afterwards moving to Keokuk county where he lived almost twenty years then moved to Madison county, where he resided until his death. All the children were present except G. M. Wilson, who resides in Burlington, Ia.
The funeral was held at the Oak Grove church conducted by Rev. Jandricks and the remains were interred in the Walker cemetery.
_______________________Transcriber's: Walker cemetery now known as Pleasant View cemetery in Webster township. There is a crude, homemade gravestone there with "Wilson" carved in the cement. This may be John W. Wilson but there is no way to prove it. It is on the gravestone website under "Wilson, Unknown". First name taken from 1900 Madison County Census.
