Mrs. J. W. Fry, who has been sick for some time, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Andy Crowder, Sunday evening. Funeral services were held at the Friends Church conducted by Rev. Stribling, after which she was laid to rest in the Earlham cemetery.

Thursday, April 9, 1903Mrs. Mary M. Fry, wife of the late Jas. W. Fry, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. A. Crowder, on Sunday evening, April 5, after an illness lasting several weeks. She had resided here a number of years and enjoyed the respect and friendship of a large circle of friends.
The funeral services were held in the Friends church on Tuesday morning, conducted by Rev. J. W. Stribling, and the remains were laid away in Earlham cemetery beside those of her husband, who died last December. The pall bearers were Odd Fellows, to which order her husband had been a life long member.
Mary Melvina Parker was born in Laurel county, Kentucky, May 6, 1829. She moved to Wayne county, Indiana, with her parents in 1832, where she grew to womanhood, and was married to Mathew Salisbury in 1852. She came to Iowa with her husband in 1855, but returned to Indiana the following year. She moved to St. Clair county, Missouri, in 1857, where she resided until the death of her husband in 1881. Eight children were born to the union, four of whom preceded their parents to the unknown world. In 1882 Iowa again became her home.
June 1891, she was married to Jas. W. Fry. She united with the Christian church in 1860, and remained true to its teaching until the end.
