Miss Nancy Bottoms was born in Jackson county, Indiana, January 29th, 1840 and died at her home in Scott township, Madison county, Iowa, being at the time of her death 66 years old.
At the age of 13 she united with the Desciple church. In 18 -- she was married to John F. C. Herrell. To this union were born thirteen children, six of whom survive her, four daughters and two sons, Mrs. Mary McCown, of Steinsville, Indiana; Cardelia Graham, Candace Cooter, Daisy Stuart, Joseph Herrell and John Herrell, all of Madison county. She also leaves one sister, Mary Morrison, of Vincennes, Indiana and one brother, living in Terre Haute, Indiana. Her husband and the father of her children preceded her in death, having died September 3rd, 1901.
Mrs. Herrell was a quiet wife and mother and much loved by the family and all who knew her. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Fred Berry from her late home in Scott townshsip, April 25th, 1906.
