Paul “Jud” L. McKinney, 80, of Winterset died Oct. 28, 2009, at his home.
Private services were held at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Burial was in Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Paul McKinney was born Oct. 25, 1929, in Madison County to Luther and Alma (Petersen) McKinney. His marriage to Betty DeBok took place Sept. 27, 1945, in Iowa City. Jud was employed by the Madison County Roads Department for 30 years, retiring in 1991 as a truck foreman.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Winterset; his children — Janet Mundell and Sandy Peterson, both of Des Moines, and Richard McKinney of Winterset; a sister, Elsie Manning of Winterset; two brothers, Earl McKinney of Indianola and Larry McKinney of Blue Springs, Mo.; and seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Paul L. McKinney was born October 25, 1929 in Madison County, Iowa, to Luther and Alma (Petersen) McKinney. Jud’s marriage to Betty DeBok took place on September 27, 1945 in Iowa City. Jud was employed by Madison County Roads Department for 30 years retiring in 1991 as a truck foreman.
Jud always enjoyed sports and sporting activities, especially watching and attending boxing matches. He also loved bowling, playing pool and golfing. In his spare time, he was often seen working on his truck and car and doing yard work. But Jud most of all loved his family and the time spent with them.
Jud is survived by his wife, Betty McKinney of Winterset; his children, Janet Mundell (Ismael Nunez Gonzalez) of Des Moines; Richard McKinney (Julie) of Winterset; Sandy Peterson (Pete) of Des Moines; a sister, Elsie Manning of Winterset, two brothers, Earl McKinney (Norma) of Indianola; Larry McKinney (Darleen) of Blue Springs, MO; seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Bert Manning.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
