ROBERT R. MACUMBER

WINTERSET, IA. - Private services for Robert R. Macumber, 64 of Williford, Ark., a former Winterset resident who died Thursday at a Des Moines hospital, were held Saturday at Collins Funeral Home here. Burial was in Clark Cemetery near Winterset.

Mr. Macumber, a former school teacher in Afton and Lorimor, moved to Arkansas in 1970.

Surviving are his wife, Vivian; a daughter, Mrs. David Thompson of Santa Monica, Calif.; two sons, Robert A. of Tacoma, Wash., and William of Kent, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. George Carlson of Des Moines; a brother, Rolland of Macomb, Mo., and six grandchildren.

Robert Macumber Rites Today

LORIMOR – Private funeral services for Robert Macumber, 64, a former teacher in the East Union community schools, were held at 1 p.m. today at the Collins funeral home at Winterset. Burial was in the Clarke cemetery in Madison county.

Mr. Macumber, who had been living in Arkansas since retirement from teaching here, died at Iowa Methodist hospital at Des Moines Thursday night.

ROBERT MACUMBER DIES IN ARKANSAS

Robert R. Macumber, a well known Madison county resident, most of his life, died last Thursday, Feb. 4, at Williford, Ark., where he had been making his home the past year. He was 64 years of age.

Mr. Macumber had spent most of his life in Madison county, farming for many years, and teaching school at Lorimor and Afton. He was born at Peru on Nov. 30, 1906, a son of Elwood and Verna Deardorff Macumber. He was married May 25, 1928, to Vivian Custer, who survives him.

Mr. Macumber was a member of the Methodist church.

In addition to his wife, he leave a daughter, Mrs. David Thompson of Santa Monica, Calif., two sons, Robert A. Macumber of Tacoma, Wash., and William D. Macumber of Kent, Wash., six grandchildren, a brother, Rolland Macumber of Macon, Mo.; and a sister, Mrs. George Carlson of Des Moines.

Private funeral services were held here Saturday from the Collins Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Newton Coughenour, pastor of the First United Methodist church of Winterset. Burial was made in Clark cemetery.
