Funeral services for John C. Denly, 76, were held Sat., August 22 at the United Methodist Church in Lorimor with the Rev. Merrill Siler officiating. He died August 19, 1992 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Mr. Denly was born on August 30, 1915 near Truro to Harry and Mae (Field) Denly. He married Virginia Gibson on October 28, 1939 in Indianola. He farmed east of Lorimor for 33 years, retired in 1979 and moved into Lorimor. He was a member of Fern Lodge, A. F. and A.M., and a past member of the Lions Club. He also was a member of United Methodist Church in Lorimor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, seven brothers, and one granddaughter.
Surviving relatives include his wife; a daughter, Patricia of Dexter; a granddaughter, Laura Bennett of Winterset; a grandson, Larry Bennett and two great-grandchildren of DeSoto; a sister, Ruby Wambold of Osceola; two brothers, Garold Denly of Osceola, and Pearl Denly of Gales burg, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephew.
Burial was at Union Cemetery north of Murray. A memorial will be established in his name.
