LORIMOR, IA - Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Collins funeral Home in Winterset for Thad Renn, 3-year-old son of Ron Renn and Dingta Waltz, both of Lorimor. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. Thad died Saturday in Drakesville. the cause of death is unknown, pending completion of an autopsy.

In addition to his parents, Thad is survived by his grandparents, LaVerne and Dawn Hull of Peru; and his great-grandparents, Mildred Boyd and Mildred Waltz, both of Winterset.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Rare disorder caused boy's fatal heart attack

BLOOMFIELD, IA - A 3-year-old Lorimor boy died at a Drakesville carnival July 28 of a heart attack brought on by a rare bowel disorder.

Don Wirtanen, Davis County medical examiner, said Thaddeus Wrenn's lower bowel deveoped a "kink' that blocked off food, liquids and blood. the organ died, producing a violent reaction that ultimately resulted in cardiac arrest, he said.

"It seemed to be a freak kind of thing." said Wirtanen, who said the boy likely showed only flulike symptoms before his death.

Wrenn was the son of Ronald Wrenn and Bingta Waltz.
