Lois Anderson, 88, of Winterset died Sept. 9, 2009, at Winterset Care Center South.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 14, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset with Dr. John Shaull officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name will be directed to the family.
Lois Anderson was born March 17, 1921, in Gravity to John and Ethel (Beery) Kimpton and was a 1938 graduate of Bedford High School. Her marriage to Carl Anderson took place Sept. 28, 1940, in Chillicothe, Mo. Lois taught country school in a one-room schoolhouse in rural Taylor County for five years while Carl was serving in the Army during World War II. They moved to Winterset in 1954 from Austin, Minn. Lois was a full-time homemaker and farmwife. She later was head cook at Bethesda Care Center for over 17 years.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters, including Vida Snyder of Winterset.
She is survived by her husband, Carl, of Winterset; two sons, Dale Anderson of White Pigeon, Mich., and Glen Anderson of Winterset; and seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
