C. Dean Hoeness, 79, of Winterset died Aug. 10, 2009, at Taylor House in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Visitation will be from 1–8 p.m. today (Wednesday, Aug. 12) at the funeral home where the family will be present to receive friends from 6–8 p.m. Burial will be at Panther Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Adel. Memorials may be directed to the family to be used for a future designation.
Dean Hoeness was born March 19, 1930, in Webster Township, Madison County, to Harry and Lois (Wilson) Hoeness. His marriage to Dorothy Stine took place Aug. 14, 1953, in Reno, Nev. They were residents of Winterset for more than 50 years. Dean worked as a mechanic and owned and operated Hoeness & Sons Auto, which opened in 1979. He also worked for Bob Brown Chevrolet for 16 years and was a bus mechanic for the Winterset School District. Dean was a member of Oak Grove Community Church in Madison County. He also worked in the Madison County Tourism booth at the Iowa State Fair.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Winterset; his children — Dana Hoeness and Deena Howell, both of Winterset, and Darin Hoeness of Des Moines; and seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
