Granville Compton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Compton, was born Feb. 19, 1847, on a farm near Winterset, where he grew to manhood, and departed this life June 25, 1916, aged 69 years, 8 months and 6 days.

He was united in marriage to Adeline Daniels, Dec. 6, 1866. To his union were born three children, two boys and one daughter: Culver of Washington, Elmer of Laurel, Nebr., Lulu, who departed this life June 26, 1915. His wife, Adeline Compton, died Dec. 8, 1884. On July 26, 1885 he was married to Susie Benge and to this union were born four children: Rolla, who died Nov. 4, 1903; Mrs. Ida Gray, Fred and Clarence of Winterset.

For about 20 years Mr. Compton had made his home in the west, returning to Winterset last fall to wait for the call into the beyond.

The funeral was held from the Christian church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W. Stewart with burial in Rock City cemetery.
