Scott Perdue, age 43, died unexpectedly August 8, 2009, at his home in rural Madison County.
Scott was married to his wife, Michele for 21 years but their love affair began long before the wedding day. They met while in high school when both of them s the choir at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Des Moines. Scott sang tenor and Michele was an alto. Their vocal range dictated the seating chart and the rest was history. Later in life Scott was a deacon at Westminster.
Foremost, Scott was a great guy with no enemies. He owned a big heart that never carried a grudge and found the good in all of those around him. He overcame his physical handicap and never offered any excuse for what could, or could not, be done. Proof of his positive nature was his stubborn insistence that this year was "the year" for his Minnesota Vikings.
Those who know Scott will reflect on his meticulous nature and attention to detail. His cars were always washed, his desk always arranged at the end of the day, and even his fridge was a testament to his organizational skills. His hard work and fastidious nature will be sorely missed at Principal Financial Group where he worked for the past 11 years.
Scott's greatest love was his wife, Michele, and his two kids, Quinn, age 13, and Maddi May, age 10. He was very involved in the kids' lives, from sleepovers to soccer practices, always being the quintessential soccer dad.
In addition to providing for his own family, Scott was a loving son to his mother, Bobbie, who relied on his help in many aspects of her life. She will sorely miss her special angel.
Scott leaves behind a vast army of friends and neighbors who have reached out to his family in this sad time. Their love and support are so much appreciated by all of us.
Scott is survived by his wife, Michele; son, Quinn; daughter, Madison; mother, Bobbie Perdue of Des Moines; brothers, Steve (Theresa) of Atlantic, Brad (Carol) of Bonner Spring, KS; sisters, Debbie Husted of West Des Moines, Renée Salisbury of Des Moines, and Stacey Nicodemus of Des Moines; grandmother, Doris Mowen of West Des Moines; and in-laws, Wayne and M.J. Sam King of Clive.
Scott's father Gary preceded him in death.
Memorial services will be 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 11 at Westminster Presbyterian Church (4114 Allison Ave.) in Des Moines. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday morning.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Quinn and Maddi May Perdue College Fund at Bank of America at 3400 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, IA 50266.
