Bernard “Bernie” Hess, 89, of Indianola died Aug. 8, 2009, at Wesley The Village Health Center in Indianola.
Graveside services were held today (Wednesday, Aug. 12) at St. Patrick’s Irish Settlement Cemetery in rural Cumming with Father Martin Chevalier officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Good Shepherd Fund at The Village in Indianola. Arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
Bernie Hess was born May 8, 1920, to Joseph and Gladys Hess of Booneville. Bernie was a retired Madison County farmer and had resided at The Village since 2002 with his wife, Marilyn, of 57 years.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of Indianola and one daughter, Debra Masocco of La Habra Heights, Calif.

Bernie is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Indianola; daughter, Debra Masocco of LaHabra Heights, CA; and a son-in-law, Al Masocco.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Fred.
