Vera Igo, 93, died July 29, 2009, at Winterset Care Center South.
Graveside services were held Saturday, Aug. 1, at Winterset Cemetery with Pastor Kevin Blader officiating. Memorials may be directed to her family. Arrangements were handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
Vera Igo was born Dec. 22, 1915, in Madison County to Earl and Sallie (Palmer) Osborn and grew up in the Peru area. She married George R. Hudson on Nov. 21, 1934. Following Mr. Hudson’s death in 1937, she later married Wilbur “Bill” Igo on Sept. 9, 1946, in Kansas City, Mo. A resident of Madison County for most of her life, Vera had been a nurse’s aide for 22 years at Madison County Memorial Hospital. She also assisted her husband, Bill, when they owned the former Arcade Hotel.
She was preceded in death by both husbands, George Hudson and Bill Igo; two brothers, Homer Osborn and Max Osborn; and two sisters, Hallie Davis and Opal Ahart.
She is survived by one daughter, Janice Ham of Jefferson; two sons, Stephen Igo of Houston, Texas, and Wilbur Igo Jr. of Danville, Ill.; and three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
