MARIAM E. HOWELL, Whitewater, Kansas

Mariam E. Howell, 84, of Whitewater, Kan., died Saturday, July 25, in Whitewater. There will be no services and cremation has been done.

She was born on Sept. 16, 1924, in Winterset, Iowa, the daughter of John I. and Gladys (Robinson) Simmons. She graduated from Winterset High School and was a homemaker. Mariam was a member of the Church of Christ in Winterset. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed working in the Art Center. She also enjoyed painting, quilting and cooking.

On Aug. 4, 1946, she married E. Nelson Howell in Des Moines, Iowa. Those she leaves, including her husband of the home, are a son, David, and his wife, Susan, of Whitewater, Kan.; five grandchildren — Chris, Abby, Amber, Kayla, and Breanna; and four great-grandchildren — Dalton, James, Gavin, and Julie.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
