DELLA DUNBAR, Winterset

Della Jean Dunbar, 61, of Winterset died July 28, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 31, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset. Visitation will be from 1–8 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, with the family present to receive friends from 6–8 p.m. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery. The family requests memorials be directed to the family.

Della Dunbar was born Sept. 21, 1947, to Thomas Francis and Della May (Caraway) Farley. She attended Madrid High School, graduating in 1965 and later completed a secretarial training program at DMACC. Her marriage to Kenneth James Dunbar took place Dec. 25, 2000, in Winterset. Della was an office manager for Woodmarc Manufacturing in Winterset for 12 years. She also was employed as a bookkeeper for several other businesses. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the National Barrel Horse Association District 4.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Kenny, of Winterset; her children — Ken Gallagher of Jefferson, Chris Ellifritt of Winterset, Bridget Gallagher and Tom Gallagher, both of Des Moines, and Levi Dunbar of Norwalk; five siblings — Jim Farley of Des Moines, Bob Farley of Rochester, Minn., JoAnne Butenhoff of Winona, Minn., Pat Vignovich of Madrid, and Susie Marone of Tucson, Ariz.; and 14 grandchildren.
