RUTH SHULTZ, Winterset (2009)

Ruth E. Shultz, 92, of Winterset and formerly of Sigourney, died July 3, 2009, at Winterset Care Center South.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, July 8) at the Fremont Funeral Chapel in Fremont with Pastor Mike Carlson officiating. Burial was at Brooks Cemetery near Hedrick. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Hedrick Christian Church.

Ruth Shultz was born Oct. 5, 1916, to Clarence G. and Cora (Meeker) Miller of Hedrick. She attended school at Hedrick and lived there during the early years of her marriage. Her marriage to Chalmer C. Shultz took place June 2, 1936, in LaPlata, Mo. Ruth helped on the farm and also worked at Wimmer’s Department Store in Sigourney and at the Hayesville Bank. She held a lifetime membership in the Order of the Eastern Star, Ollie Chapter, of which she served as Worthy Matron for several years and belonged to the Worthy Matrons’ Club. She was involved in the neighborhood ladies’ club and card club and was a member of the Hedrick Christian Church. While living in Winterset for the past eight years, she also attended the First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Edith Watters.

She is survived by three sons, Ronald Shultz of Lakeland, Fla., Duane Shultz of Minnetonka, Minn., and Marvin Shultz of Winterset; and 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
