TOM JOHNSTON, Winterset

Tom Johnston, 56, of Winterset, died Tuesday at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, at the First Baptist Church in Winterset. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery.

Tom was a 1971 graduate of Winterset High School and had been a paramedic for the Madison County Ambulance Service for 23 years.

Tom is survived by his mother, Wanda Johnston of Winterset; wife, Roxanne Welch Johnston of Winterset; sons, Jason (Moriah) Johnston of Winterset and Jeff (April) Johnston of Winterset; brothers, Dick (Jane) Johnston of Creston, Jim Johnston of Winterset, and Larry Johnston of Winterset; sister, Debbie (Rick) Breeding of Winterset; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald "Doc" Johnston.

Visitation will be Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the family to be used for a future designation.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCalley - Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.

TOM JOHNSTON, Winterset

Tom Johnston, 56, went home to be with his Savior on Tuesday, July 7th, 2009. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Winterset on Friday morning. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Tom is survived by his wife, Roxanne; sons, Jason (Moriah) Johnston of Winterset and Jeff (April) Johnston of Winterset; mother, Wanda Johnston of Winterset; brothers, Dick (Jane) Johnston of Creston, Jim Johnston of Winterset, and Larry Johnston of Winterset; and sister, Debbie (Rick) Breeding of Winterset. Memorials may be directed to his family.

Tom left behind four grandchildren which were his pride and joy. They are Olivia, Jakob, Emelia, and Katherine. Tom’s love for his family was second only to his love of Jesus Christ. Tom said that the first one out of this world and into heaven was the winner. This week he won.
