MARVIE JONES, WINTERSET

Marvie Jones, 85, of Winterset died June 14, 2009, at Winterset Care Center North.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 19, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with the Rev. Bill Branson officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 6–8 p.m. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery. Memorials given to the family will be directed to Middle River Hospice.

Marvie Jones was born Sept. 25, 1923, to Charles and Bessie (Bonney) Clemens of Percival. On Feb. 28, 1942, she married Richard L. Jones in Rockport, Mo. She lived in Council Bluffs for 35 years before moving to Winterset 42 years ago. Marvie had been a homemaker and caregiver. She also was a member of the Church of God in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by five brothers — Charles Clemens, Francis “Rusty” Clemens, Beecher Clemens, Benny Clemens, and Theodore Clemens; and a sister, Georgia Fletcher.

She is survived by her husband, Richard, of Winterset; three sons, Larry Jones of Council Bluffs, Keith Jones of Baltimore, Md., and David Jones of Edgerton, Kan.; one daughter, Marcie Smith of Winterset; two sisters, Mary Peterson of Pittsburg, Pa., and Dorothy Thomas of Olathe, Kan.; and 16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
