Uncle George Bell, an old soldier and long a resident of this community, died at his home on Saturday, April 21, aged 78 years. The funeral services were held on Monday at Blair Chapel by Rev. Long.

George Bell, of Bevington, Iowa, was born in Pickaway county, Ohio, November 4, 1822, and died April 21, 1900, after two weeks’ illness.
He was married in Hancock county, Ohio, in 1841 to Miss Athia L. Cole. They came to Iowa in 1845. Mr. Bell was an old soldier, serving three years in the civil rebellion.
He was a devoted Christian and a member of the M. E. church. His death was very peaceful, he being fully prepared to meet his Savior.
He leaves an aged wife and seven children to mourn his death. Only two children are residing in Iowa—one daughter in Des Moines, and J. N. Bell, of this county.
Deceased was interred at the Blair Chapel cemetery April 3, 1900.
