ERNEST BROWN Dies at 59

Ernest L. Brown, 59, died June 18, 1972, in the Madison County Memorial Hospital at Winterset.
Mr. Brown was born May 25, 1913, a son of Samuel G. and Alice Barber Brown, in Madison county and spent 49 years here, but was living in Jefferson, Iowa, prior to the time of his death.

Mr. Brown had worked as the steward of the Greene County Home near Jefferson. He was affiliated with the Methodist church and belonged to the Odd-Fellows lodge. He was married to Ethel A. Murphy in 1938.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Ethel, his children, Mrs. Wayne Speer, Mrs. Robert Newton and Lloyd F. Brown of Winterset, Larry G. Brown of the U.S. Navy in Korea, Arlene E. Brown of Des Moines and Mary Brown of Jefferson; his brothers and sisters, Mrs. Alfred Drake of Patterson, Mrs. Halden Bertholf of Winterset, Mrs. Bill Fogler of Patterson, John Brown of Winterset, Mrs. Verne Fairholm of Peru, Eugene Brown of Patterson and Arthur Brown of Patterson and six grandchildren.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 21 at the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset by the Rev. Newton Coughenour. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
