LELA F. PATTERSON, Peru

Services for Lela Fern Patterson, 82, rural Peru, who died Dec. 5, 1985, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, were held Monday, Dec. 9 at the United Methodist Church at Peru with the Rev. Charles Morrow officiating. Burial was at the Fremont Cemetery in Clarke County.

Born Oct. 24, 1903, at Woodburn, Iowa, she was the daughter of David and Jessie Thompson Alvis. She attended Clarke County schools and was married Dec. 25, 1922 to Ernest J. Patterson at Osceola.

Mrs. Patterson spent most of her life as a housewife and was a member of the Peru Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband of Peru; daughters, Fern McCasland and husband Major of Des Moines; Helen Stout and husband Jody of Lorimor, Shirley Baker of Peru, Julia Bruett and husband Curtis of Earlham and Janet Wadle and husband Tom of Des Moines; sons, Ernest Patterson, Jr. and wife Nancy of St. Charles and Kenneth Patterson of Peru; 25 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, three brothers, a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
