FLORENCE MAYE CANNON, Winterset

Services for Florence Maye Cannon, 83, Winterset, who died Nov. 28, 1985, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, were held Dec. 4 at the United Methodist Church at Ventura, Iowa with the Rev. Bernard Olson officiating. Burial was at Clear Lake Cemetery.

Born in Moravia April 16, 1902, she was the daughter of Francis and Lucy Noe Felton. She married Cecil E. Cannon on July 24, 1930 at Newton.

She attended Moravia High School and did college work at Iowa Teachers College at Cedar Falls. She taught school in Cerro Gordo and Hancock counties for 34 years and was a longtime member of the Iowa State Education Association. She belonged to the United Brethren Church and later the United Methodist Church, Women's Society of Christian Services and American Legion Auxiliary. She moved to Lorimor in 1975 and lived the past several years at the Bethesda Care Center in Winterset.

Survivors include a brother, Lester Felton of Plattesmouth, Neb.; sisters, Mrs. Lola Williams of Dallas Center and Mrs. Fern Berry of Lorimor.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son, and three brothers.
